I love to read other peoples blogs. I get so many wonderful ideas from the blogs I read everyday. I want to share with you a few blogs that I love to read and learn from. I hope that you enjoy them as much as I do.
Blissful and Domestic is an awesome blog that I first saw on The Today Show. Her money saving ideas are so helpful to get you on track to saving and she gives you the tools to stay within your budget. She also posts lots of great crock pot meals for busy moms.
This is a new blog that I just recently found and I really love it. Mamas Like Me is a great resource to find fun activities that you can do with your kids. You can also find lots of great parenting tips on everything from parenting to great ways to organize your life.
Question: What is your favorite blog of the week?
Happy Valentine’s Day! I plan on taking some time out of my day to focus on the people I love in my life and express how much I love them.
I plan on giving my husband the extra attention that I should be giving him each and every day. Sometimes I let the craziness of life get in the way of showing him how much I love and appreciate everything he does for me and our girls.
Enjoy your day!
Do you love chocolate chip cookies? We love them in our house. This recipe is the best dairy free chocolate chip cookie recipe ever. The cookies taste just like my Grandma’s chocolate chip cookie. I had to make a few adjustments to the recipe to make it dairy free. I use vegetable shortening instead of butter and I used Enjoy Life chocolate chips.
Enjoy life chocolate chips is a great dairy free substitute for regular chocolate chips. They taste just like semisweet chocolate chips. They are dairy, nut and soy free which is great. I like to bake with them because I don’t have to search for them or go to a specialized grocery store. I am able to find them at all the local grocery stores in our town.
- 1 cup vegetable shortening
- 2 Tbsp water
- 3/4 c white sugar
- 3/4 c brown sugar
- 2 eggs
- 2 c all-purpose flour
- 1/2 tsp baking soda
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 2 c chocolate chips
1. Preheat the oven to 375. Using a mixer, mix the vegetable shortening, water, and sugars together. Add 1 egg at a time to the bowl until mixed well.
2. In a medium size bowl, mix the flour, baking soda and salt together.
3. Add the dry ingredients to the mixer, mixing until just combined. Add the vanilla and mix for just a few seconds. Mix in the chocolate chips by hand.
4. Using a cookie scoop, drop small balls of batter onto the cookie sheet. Bake for 7-9 minutes until the edges of the cookies are brown. Let the cookies sit on the cookie sheet for about a minute before removing them. By letting them sit you are allowing them to harden just a little and it makes it easier to remove them from cookie sheet.
Recipe makes about 36 cookies.
I like to serve my cookies warm with almond milk.
Tip: A cookie scoop is a create investment, it helps to make perfectly round cookies. It also cuts down on the mess you get when you use a spoon.
Yikes. We are about to get hit with the biggest snow storm that I have seen in years. The weather channel is saying to expect 8-12 inches of the white stuff. That is an insane amount of snow! Add that to the 4 inches we already have and if my little munchkin goes out, we won’t be able to see her head above all of the snow. We aren’t going to be able and go out to play in this snow storm to get our energy out, there is just going to be way too much snow. To keep busy we are going to have to do LOTS craft projects instead.
During my lunch at work to day, I was able to get out of the office and get supplies. I went to Hobby Lobby and got lots and lots of crafting supplies to keep us happy and busy for the next few days. They must have been happy to see me coming, I think I bought the store out of craft paper and glue. The store was so packed, I must not be the only person thinking, “stuck in the house, let’s get crafty.”
Here are some activities that I plan on doing with my little ones to have some fun. Check out the links to some awesome blogs to find things that you can do with your kiddies until you are able to tunnel your way out of the snow.

Question: What are you doing with your little ones today?
My go to shoe option at the moment is knee high BOOTS! I am a little bit obsessed with them. I just can’t help myself. What am I going to do when winter is over? They are both stylish and comfortable. There aren’t too many fashion items that you can wear that actually are functional. So boots are a fashion win, win for me.
Last Saturday we were so busy. I don’t think I spent more then 1 hour at home the whole day. In the morning, I ran a ton of errands with the little kids. Then after nap my oldest daughter had a gymnastics meet and munchkin #1 had a bowling birthday party to go to. When I got dressed that morning, I tried to pick something that I could easily chase after the munchkins in at the gymnastics meet and wouldn’t show every little hand print that I was sure to have on me.
Here is what I wore last weekend:
Tank top – Forever21
Shirt – Forever21
Skinny jeans – Old Navy
Boots – Macy’s
Watch – Wristology
